In the 21st century, the social environment such as human medical services and welfare will change drastically. The Japanese Assistance Dog Resource Academy, composed of medical service workers and veterinary experts, is contributing extensively toward promoting the use of "assistance dogs". The aim is to have assistance dog trainers recognized as a new type of rehabilitation medical professional in Japan in the future and, with the understanding of rehabilitation experts, to promote assistance dogs as a living means of self-help and self-reliance for the handicapped. The Academy therefore holds Assistance Dog Trainer Seminars in the U.S. and Japan for occupational therapists and physical therapists, in order to develop human resources who will act as medical and welfare leaders.
The social mission of ZENOAQ is "to enhance the value of animals and contribute to society." With the aim of encouraging the appropriate use of assistance dogs, ZENOAQ established the "ZENOAQ Scholarship" for this Seminar held by the Japanese Assistance Dog Resource Academy to foster human resources.
